And although he may have a vaguely middle eastern name, when he filled out his forums to join the Army, he listed no religious preferences.
So if he was a Muslim, it's something he picked up after he joined the army.

Brown,
Did I blame Obama for this tragedy? That you think that's the same as saying Obama doesn't give a sh*t, that's what's disturbing.
And you, as much as anyone, analyzed W's reaction to whatever happened while he was in the office. Now you don't seem to care about how the president handles himself in these sorts of situations? Case in point; W flies on to a deck with the banner 'mission accomplished' that's been put up to signfy victory in Baghdad and you use that as a way of attacking not only the military strategy he had taken but his very intelligence. So yes when something terrible happens I am going to analyze how Obama reacts and carries himself. When he's giving 'shout-outs' right before he has to go on nationally to console and reassure a nation I find that offensive.

No, I mean another person. Because his being Muslim had nothing to do with this rampage, except possibly cause him some cognitive dissonance because he's working for a country which seems to hate his people. Not that you can see that, of course; all the Muslims are basically the same to you.

Innocent until proven guilty is usually how we operate.
Personally? I believe there most certainly is. Hell, I know there is just by family members I have in the armed forces who are racist. Being able to prove it is the tough part. Doing something about it is even tougher.
Justifying a mass-murder because of it is ridiculous, and thank goodness none of us (besides Varus) have tried to link the two yet.

Completely agree. Discrimination, like this guy's religion, cannot justify what he did. The guy himself was the psycho.

What that the mass murderer was a radical muslim?
The causative relationship you're looking for here is that he was discriminated against and harassed (assuming that's true), not that he was Muslim. His being Muslim was an indirect cause in that it was the root of the discrimination against him; but the far more relevant cause is the behavior which discriminated against him. You're effectively saying "it was the black man's fault for being enslaved because he was black, not because the whites hated the blacks".

From what I read, and I unfortunately can't find that story right now, he was a practising Muslim. He disagreed with the war in Iraq and he got "picked on," I guess, for speaking out about it. He was going to be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan and he really didn't want to go. He had asked to be discharged, but they were deploying him anyway.
He was to be deployed on Friday. He shot and killed a bunch of people on Thursday.
They aren't saying this is why he did it, but my guess would be that he did it because he didn't want to be deployed.
Here is a different story, not the one I read this morning. It would appear he did suffer some ugliness because of his religion. Not that it is any excuse, of course.

That's because the brownies deserve it. They bring it on themselves. [:schooled:]

On another note, I find your blanket assertion that any Muslim = "radical Muslim" disturbing. Expected, of course, since this has always been your stance, but disturbing nonetheless.

Fundamentalists of any stripe, really, are morally, ethically, and mentally indistinguishable from terrorists. The whole "you disagree, therefore you must die/be shunned/etc." mindset really does turn a person into a waste of oxygen.
