First-Person Shooter

A common acronym, describing a game whose point-of-view is the eyes of the avatar (First-Person), and whose action is based on shooting things or blowing things up. Pace is usually fast and storyline, if there is one, is linear with specific goals to obtain to move forward through the game.

Classic examples of First-Person Shooters include:

  • Castle Wolfenstein 3D
  • Doom
  • Heretic
  • Quake
  • Half-Life
  • Team Fortess
