Overview of FableUnity
FableUnity, one of the largest social linkshells on Shiva, is a linkshell unlike any other. Yeah,you've probably heard that before, right? So before you continue, ask yourself:
How many linkshells do you know with players from levels 1-75? How about those with players from multiple countries (NA, JP, and everything inbetween)? Do they also have players from multiple HNMLS? How many of them have all of the above, all working together? FableUnity does. The reason it works is because we are unlike any other linkshell. Don't take our word for it; you'll have to see for yourself.
FableUnity (or "FU" as we lovingly call it) was created on June 10, 2005 during the Shiva migration to Midgarsormr. Hundreds of people left Shiva to try for a fresh start on a different server. FU was an experiment to show that you don't need to leave home to start anew.
What does FU do? Does the linkshell do any events?
Of course we do events as a linkshell. However, you'll find that the majority of our events here are member-sponsored. As part of the "FU is what you make it" motto, we always encourage members to set up and sponsor their own events.
As a linkshell, events encompass everything from "Best Death" contests to "FU Olympic Decatholons." These are usually the fun games that remind us that we occasionally need to take a break from the grind and have fun. As far as events like coffer runs go, those are usually left up to the individual members.
Need a key? A coffer? A quest? A mission? With FableUnity you have full access to the linkshell, the boards, the sackholders, and every single member (including Sophus). However, you can't expect that by simply posting information (or asking for help) that it will automatically happen. Results require work.
If you take the time to plan, recruit, and even help others so that they can help you...it's pretty much guaranteed that you'll accomplish everything you want here. If you'd rather sit back and go along with it if it happens...well, you'll still have a chance. However, you probably won't get things done as quickly as others.
Those who work to accomplish goals here are more likely to succeed. Consequently, they are also more likely to become sackholders.
Is FableUnity the right choice for you?
There's really no way to know that until you're here. FableUnity isn't for everyone, and it takes work to be successful here...but it's worth it. Your success will never be determined by your rank, level, or even ethnicity. It is determined only by your will to succeed.
No one is ever bound here, and you don't have any loyalties to us just because we give you a pearl. You are more than welcome to try us out and leave if you ever change your mind. A linkshell should be a choice, not a responsibility. Just promise to come in with an open mind and baggage at the door. FableUnity probably won't be like anything you've experienced before.
LS Structure
The FU shell is owned by Sophus, but that doesn't make him the leader; his role is closer to head babysitter. In reality, it's the members of FableUnity who lead the shell and guide it.
A linkshell is nothing without people in it; its future without people to guide it. Our only limitation here is the greatness of our members. Becase of that, FableUnity has the potential to be anything (or nothing at all).
If you work hard, take charge, and lead, FableUnity will become exactly what you want it to. If you sit back and let things happen, you may find FU to your distaste. But no matter how much you like or dislike it, we will still be FableUnity. Everything else is up to you. FableUnity is only what you make of it.
Linkshell Rules & things like cussing, rudeness, or vulgarity
This is where FableUnity is somewhat unique. As a linkshell, we allow people to be who they are, and not be afraid to speak up. In fact, we actually encourage people to be more active and to control their own destinies here. If you don't like how something is, or if you don't agree with something that is said, we urge you to give us your opinions too!
A big part of being in FableUnity is working to make us the type of linkshell that YOU want it to be.
Sure, it may get frustrating when a sackholder doesn't solve your problems for you. In fact, it may even seem like they are being lazy...but they're not. This linkshell will only be what you make of it, so you can't expect others to fight your battles. Instead, the sackholders are there to help YOU reach your goals or solve your problems (but we won't do it for you). Your success here is limited only by your willingness to succeed.
So if you have a problem that you need solved, don't be afraid to come to a sackholder; they'll be more than willing (and capable) to help you through it. But if you say "I don't like ____," don't be surprised when they ask "Have you told them that?" It's more responsibility for you that way, but the reward will be that much greater.

Purpose of sackholders
Since in FableUnity, our members lead the linkshell, you may wonder what's the point of those players with the purple dot next to their name. The answer is that our sackholders are the leaders.
Just because everyone CAN lead the linkshell, that doesn't mean that everyoneone WILL. Some people are simply content to be. Others are content to complain. Some are content to waste away. ONLY SOME WILL RISE TO LEAD. Those who have proven themselves to be leaders in this linkshell are the sackholders.
You can't be a sackholder unless you have already proven yourself to be a leader. That's why we don't make temp-sacks here, or even give sackholder status to people simply because they have multiple level 75 jobs. Being a sackholder here is a special thing. If you haven't proven yourself to be a leader yet, you won't be given a sack. We take that privilege seriously.
While we won't reveal the exact process to become a sackholder, we can say that it's not determined by rank, level, or even friendship status. A level 40 with leadership capabilities will become a sackholder here before a level 75 who always relies on others to do things for him/her.
In a perfect world, every member would also be a leader, then every member would be a sackholder. In reality, whether or not you become a sackholder here is up to you.
How to Join
Some of our members are board-only. If that's you, sign up for a new account at http://forums.fableunity.com and then post on the thread "FU Members: Post here for upgrade." Put on there that you are a board-only member and we will upgrade your account accordingly. (This will allow you to see all the FU message board content.)
For those who would also like a pearl, start by signing up for an account and posting on that same thread. From there, we'll keep a lookout for you. It's often faster, though, to hunt down a sackholder yourself in-game for a pearl (usually during NA prime-time). The list of currently active sackholders is:

- Jonin
- Lafaiel

- Rhamza
- Sophus
- note: we have many other sackholders that are retired or aren't on much. They are still considered leaders, but we've only listed the ones most likely to be able to get you a pearl.
When you are given a pearl, the sackholder will also give you 1 gil and the following speech (or its equivalent):
"We don't mind if you spend a lot of time here, or a little. We also don't care if you have multiple linkshells. Just promise to remember that we are not your other linkshells, nor will we ever be. Even if some of the people here are the same, we are not. We are simply FU."
What this means is to keep your past conceptions, problems, and issues FROM those other linkshells IN those other linkshells. Leave your hatred for other people in those other linkshells. Leave your hatred for other linkshells in those other linkshells. Check all that baggage at the door, that's the only way you'll really get a fresh start here. As such, all we really ask is that our members refrain from advertising for or against other linkshells in our LS chat, and to keep personal arguments to /tell.
If you come into FableUnity thinking that we're something that we're not, you're going to be greatly disappointed. We are only FU, nothing more.
